ARMY TROOPS GIVE BLOOD TO SAVE LIVES

A recorded 167 Army personnel working under 53 Infantry Division, Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Civilian of Galewela area volunteered to give their blood for the benefit of patients during a blood donation campaign which was, held at Kanadana Devarukkarama Temple - Galewela.

The project coincides with the 25th commemoration day of the fallen hero 0/62899 Captain MS Jeevantha Rajapaksha (CR), who laid down his life on 20th April 1998, whilst engaged in operational duties in Olumadu area. Event was organized as per guidelines given by Major General Shanaka Rathnayake RWP RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding of 53 Infantry Division (RSF) in close coordination with the National Blood Transfusion Centre at Kurunegala.

While the project was on, the General Officer Commanding of 53 Infantry Division (RSF) arrived at the location and interacted with the medical staff and donors who were awaiting their turn. National Blood Transfusion Centre at Kurunegala extended its gratitude to the Army for the gesture.
