In line with the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, under the guidance of the Commander of the Army and based on a concept by the Commander of the Air Mobile Brigade, a tree-planting program was organized to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Air Mobile Brigade. This community service project aims to contribute to the preservation of Sri Lanka’s coastal ecosystems by planting 2,000 Casuarina trees along the Thiriyai coastal belt.
The first phase of this program was carried out on May 4, 2025, under the leadership of the Commander of the Air Mobile Brigade, the Assistant Secretary of the Kuchchaveli Pradeshiya Sabha, and officers from the Department of Forest Conservation. A team of 200 army personnel also contributed to the effort. During this phase, 500 Casuarina trees were planted across a significant portion of the Thiriyai coastal area.
