58 INFANTRY DIVISIONAL TROOPS LAUNCHES A BOOSTER VACCINATION DRIVE
The troops of 58 Infantry Division contribute to the National Vaccination Drive against COVID - 19 pandemic under the program of “Vaccination Week”. This programme was commenced on 29 January 2022 targeting the community around the divisional troops are deployed. In that, divisional troops belong to Headquarters 58 Infantry Division, 581 Infantry Brigade, 582 Infantry Brigade, and 583 Infantry Brigade have conducted the vaccination programme with the coordination of Regional Health Service officers. Vaccination centers are established at Nawagaththegama (58 Infantry Division - 841 have been vaccinated), Kotagala (581 Infantry Brigade – 137 persons were vaccinated), Horana (582 Infantry Brigade - 179 persons were vaccinated), Wadduwa (1SLLI - 571 persons were vaccinated), Kurunegala (583 Infantry Brigade - 366 persons were vaccinated) areas. The programme was initiated on the direction of the Commander 1 Corps and under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding 58 Infantry Division. Mobile awareness announcements also have been executed prior to vaccination which helped to attract more people.
