53 INFANTRY DIVISIONAL TROOPS LAUNCHES A BOOSTER VACCINATION DRIVE

The troops of 53 Infantry Division contribute to the National Vaccination Drive Against COVID - 19 pandemic under the programme of “Vaccination Week”. This programme was Commenced on 29 January 2022 targeting the community around where the divisional troops are deployed. In that, divisional troops belong to Headquarters 53 Infantry Division (RSF), Airmobile Brigade, 532 and 533 Infantry Brigades have conducted the vaccination programme. Vaccination centers are established at Periyamadu Hospital (24 SLLI - 232 persons were vaccinated), Kanishta Vidyalaya - Matara, Yatiyana (12 SLSR - 240 persons were vaccinated), Mahinda Rajapaksha Conference Hall, Wellawaya (5 GW - 162 persons were vaccinated), Kilinochchi (3 GR - 255 persons were vaccinated), Hindu National Collage, Matale (8 GR - 390 persons were vaccinated), Higuarakgoda (533 Infantry Brigade - 63 persons were vaccinated), Maradankadawala (6 SLLI - 189 persons were vaccinated) and Doramadalawa (22 GR - 120 persons were vaccinated) areas. The programme was initiated on the direction of the Commander 1 Corps and under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division (RSF). Mobile awareness announcements also have been executed prior to vaccination which helped to attract more people.
