1 CORPS STAMINA SPARTANS COMPETITION – 2024

The “Stamina Spartans competition”, successfully concluded on 07 April 2024 at Headquarters 1 Corps, after a simple closing ceremony. The aim of this competition was to enhance fitness, endurance, self-confidence and team spirit of soldiers serving under 53 & 58 Infantry Divisions.

Team represented by 16 Battalions of 53 & 58 Infantry Divisions for the competition and selected best three teams with physical agility and fitness. The “Stamina Spartans competition” consisted of stretcher run, truck pushing, water rafting, tire shifting, quickly build up a canopy and 20 L water filled 25 jerry cans shifting.

Champions of the competition awarded to 5th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment while 19th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 9th Battalion the Gemunu Watch secured 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up respectively.

Major General SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, Commander of 1 Corps graced the occasion as the chief guest. Major General HDWKN Eriyagama RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding of 58 Infantry Division, Brigadier GDSM Alwis RWP RSP, Deputy General Officer Commanding of 53 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Rankers witnessed the occasion.
