1 Corps proudly celebrated its second anniversary

The second anniversary of 1 Corps was proudly held in Kilinochchi on 17 October 2023 under the supervision and guidance of Major General SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu Commander - 1 Corps.

In conjunction with this anniversary, a series of programmes were carried out and on 04 October 2023, offering of special food made of milk (Kiri Ahara Poojawa) and Bodhi Pooja were held at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya and Ruwanweli Seya with the participation of the 1 Corps Commander to invoke blessings on the 1 Corps flag and all the troops. Other religious ceremonies were conducted at Tirumurukandi Pullair Temple, Jumma Mosque, Kilinochchi and St. Teresa's Church, Kilinochchi. A Bodhi Pooja was also held at the temple premises of the 1 Corps. The luncheon and awarding of prizes to the elders of the S.K. Elderly Home in Malayalakulam was presided over by the Commander - 1 Corps. Along with this, an inter-division cricket tournament was held and prizes and trophies were awarded to the winners.

On the second anniversary day which fell on 17 October 2023, Major General SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu Commander - 1 Corps was honoured with Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour by 07 officers and 127 other ranks of 53 Division, 58 Division, Commando Brigade and Special Forces Brigade, as per Army tradition. Commander - 1 Corps addressed the troops and emphasized, "Training is the best welfare of the soldiers." Further, he stated that various training programmes have been implemented under the 1 Corps to meet this end and appreciated the services being rendered by all ranks of the 1 Corps for the organization and the country. To mark the second anniversary, a sandal tree was planted in the headquarters premises, followed by a group photo. After the all ranks lunch held at the Nelum Piyasa multi-purpose hall, the second celebration was successfully concluded.

Major General HDWKN Eriyagama RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding of 58 Division, Senior Staff Officers of 1 Corps, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers, Officers and all ranks participated in this event.
