1 CORPS CONDUCTED FIRST EVER FLAG BLESSING CEREMONY

After inauguration of 1 Corps on 17 October 2021, the chain of symbolic religious flag blessing ceremonies were conducted to bless 1 Corps. The first segment of the series of event held at the most sacred ‘ Ruwanwaliseya’, ‘Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi’ and ‘Mirisawatiya’ in Anuradhapura precincts on 18 October 2021, which was graced by Major General Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc the commander 1 corps as the chief guest along with cross section of officers and other ranks of the corps.

Afterwards the maiden symbolic flag blessing ceremony of the 1 Corps at Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy was held on 09 November 2021 under the patronage of Commander Major General Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc.The flag was taken respectfully in procession to the upper chamber by the Commander 1 Corps, and Bhodi Puja ceremony and Seth Pirith were conducted to invoke blessings for the 1 Corps, followed by religious activities conducted at 'Natha Dewalaya'. The event was patronized by the troops of the 1 Corps at Kilinochchi and troops of 8 GR. Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, the General Officer Commanding of 58 Infantry Division, Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, Brigadier General Staff of 1 Corps, and cross section of Officers and Other Ranks too took part in the ceremony.
