PARIS OLYMPIC SELECTEE S/SGT DILHANI LEKAMGE FACILITATE BY SLAWC

Javelin thrower Dilhani Lekamge of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps has secured her spot for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games in 2024, based on the World Athletics rankings. The qualification period concluded on 30 June 2024, and recent updates have confirmed her participation.

She achieved the highest ranking among world athletes, currently positioned at 26th, with 32 athletes set to be selected. This achievement showcases her dedication and skill, marking a significant milestone in her athletics career.

In recognition of her achievements, Major General Senaka Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps took a moment to express profound appreciation for her exceptional commitment showcased. Therefore, Under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Regimental Centre organized a felicitation ceremony on 06 July 2024 at RC SLAWC premises – Borella to appreciate her special achievement.

The event was headed by Major General Senaka Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps along with Mrs Udula Kasturimudali President of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch as the chief guest. Moreover, Colonel Commandant SLAWC impressed by the S/SGT Nadeesha Lekamge accomplishments that brought pride to both the country and the Army, commended her, highlighting her exceptional determination and perseverance.

Further, in appreciation of her achievement, the Colonel Commandant presented financial incentives to S/Sgt Nadeesha Lekamge, extending her best wishes for her future endeavors. Brigadier JKR Jayakody RWP USP The Centre Commandant SLAWC, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of RC SLAWC along with 1SLAWC also present at the moment.
