The Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Major General HHKSS Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, recently undertook an official visit to the 7th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, marking a significant milestone for the Battalion.
During the visit, the Colonel Commandant conducted a comprehensive camp inspection to assess administrative standards, operational readiness and the overall welfare of the troops. Addressing the officers and other ranks, he commended their dedication, discipline and professionalism, expressing appreciation for the high standards maintained by the Battalion.
A highlight of the visit was the ceremonial opening of a newly constructed Maternal Care Room within the camp premises. This has introduced a commendable initiative to promote the physical and psychological well-being of pregnant service personnel. Consistent with this objective, a dedicated, fully equipped and air-conditioned facility has been created to provide expectant mothers serving in the battalion with a secure and comfortable environment. The facility was declared open by the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Mrs. Sachetha Hewage, in conjunction with the Colonel Commandant’s visit.
The construction of the Maternal Care Room was undertaken under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant and realized under the leadership and supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion, Lt Col MMC Mirahawatta WWV RWP RSP USP SF, with the valuable contribution and support of all ranks.
