Under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch, the 2nd Volunteer Battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps successfully organized a special welfare program aimed at encouraging its serving soldiers, civilian staff, pregnant soldiers and the children of serving women soldiers. This meaningful initiative was conducted in line with the 30th Anniversary celebrations of the Battalion, with the collective assistance and generous contribution of the Officers and Other Ranks, reflecting the unit’s strong tradition of unity, compassion and social responsibility.
Accordingly, the distribution of dry ration packs to serving soldiers and civilian staff, essential items and dry rations to pregnant soldiers and valuable school stationery packs for their children was ceremonially held on 27 December 2025 at the Madawachchiya Battalion premises.
The program was conducted under the esteemed patronage of the Honorable President of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs.Sachetha Hewage. The event was further dignified by the participation of the Commandant, Defense Services Command and Staff College and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Major General HHKSS Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc. The Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Brigadier PGCS Gallage RWP RSP, along with Mrs.Mduwanthi Gallage and other invitees whose presence added significance and prestige to the occasion.
In addition to the welfare distribution, a series of well-coordinated hospitality and entertainment activities were conducted throughout the day to enhance the celebratory spirit of the program. These included a delightful tea party, lunch arrangements and a special entertainment segment featuring colorful dance performances by Santa Claus, which brought joy and festive cheer to all participants, especially the children. The program concluded on a highly successful note, reinforcing the Battalion’s enduring commitment to the welfare, morale and well-being of its personnel and their families as it proudly commemorates three decades of dedicated service.
