1 SLAWC “SAHITHA SANHITHA” NEW LIBRARY OPENED

Mrs. Udula Kasturimudali, the President of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps Seva Vanitha Branch, had the concept of giving library facilities to all Ranks. Consequently, “Sahitha Sanhitha” new library was brought to a successful completion on 12th June 2024 by the Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Maj E M H C De Saram psc SLAWC with the provision of all Officers, Other Ranks and Civilians. The new library was aimed to inculcate the reading habit among soldiers and completed in a short period.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Udula Kasturimudali, the President of the SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch cut a ribbon at the main entrance of the new library to inaugurate it. The new library is equipped with numerous volumes and a modern technological software Library Management System.

The occasion turned more significant afterwards as the Librarian Lt P K R L M Dissanayake SLAWC presented the first Library Membership card to the Chief Guest, Mrs. Udula Kasturimudali, Mrs. Indunil Jayakody, Vice President of the SLAWC Seva Vanita Branch, Brigadier J K R Jayakody RWP USP Centre Commandant of SLAWC and several other Senior Officers.

Later, all the guests who were invited were able to take a close look inside the new library. After that, the chief guest, Mrs. Udula Kasthurimudali, addressed all Ranks by educating them about the importance of reading books and how it affects the work and personal life by maintaining mental freedom. At the same occasion, Mrs. Udula Kasturimudali, Mrs. Idunil Jayakody and Maj E M H C De Saram psc SLAWC symbolically donated the set of books to the new library.
