In his first official engagement after assuming command, Major General KHMS Wickramaratne RSP, the newly appointed Commander of 1 Corps, visited the Headquarters of the 58 Infantry Division on 13 August 2025.
Upon arrival, Major General KHMS Wickramaratne RSP was received by Major General AMA Abeyawardana WWV RWP RSP ndc, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Infantry Division. The visit commenced with a traditional guard turnout, followed by a group photograph with senior officers, officers, and other ranks, marking the significance of the occasion.
The GOC and Staff Officers of the 58 Infantry Division provided a detailed briefing on the division’s current deployments, operational commitments, and strategic objectives. The discussion underscored the division’s critical role in maintaining national security and readiness. As part of the visit, Major General KHMS Wickramaratne RSP participated in a tree-planting event, symbolizing his inaugural visit.
During his address to the troops, the Commander of 1 Corps, emphasized key priorities including, maintaining strict discipline within the ranks, upholding the dignity and professionalism of the Army, fulfilling duty commitments with dedication, ensuring national security in all operational endeavors. The visit concluded with an All-Rank tea, fostering camaraderie and strengthening the bond between the leadership and soldiers.
This engagement highlights the continued commitment of the Sri Lanka Army to operational excellence, leadership engagement, and troop welfare under the new command of Major General KHMS Wickramaratne RSP.
