COMMANDER 1 CORPS PARTICIPATES IN INAUGURAL CONFERENCE FOR CORMORANT STRIKE 2025

The inaugural conference for the upcoming Cormorant Strike Exercise was held on 02 December 2024, marking a pivotal step in the planning process. The event brought together key military officials to deliberate on the crucial elements of the exercise. Major General MTI Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commander of 1 Corps, presided the conference with a comprehensive welcome address. He outlined the overarching objectives and set a clear direction for the discussions that ensued, emphasizing the strategic importance of the exercise.

Throughout the conference, several key aspects of the exercise were thoroughly examined to ensure its smooth execution. These included the selection of the exercise area, the duration and detailed time plan, and the overall concept and structure of the exercise. Participation of troops including sister services, along with an expected number of foreign participants. Additionally, discussions covered the training and logistical requirements, including fuel and transport needs, the integration of advanced technology into the exercise, and the financial planning, with a focus on the estimated costs and budgetary requirements. These deliberations were vital to laying a solid foundation for a successful and well-executed Cormorant Strike Exercise.

Meanwhile, Comd 1 Corps accompanied the other senior officers to observed the Mobile Operation Room.

Major General KHMS Wickrmarathna RSP, General Officer Commanding of the 53 Infantry Division (RSF), Brigadier KMCS Kumarasinghe, Deputy General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division, Brigadier DS Horawalavithana WWV RWP RSP, Brigade Commander of SF Bde, Staff Officers of HQ 1 Corps, Senior Officers and Officers participated in the occasion.
