THE VISIT OF COMMANDER 1 CORPS TO HEADQUARTERS 58 INFANTRY DIVISION AND 583 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Major General MTI Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commander 1 Corps made his maiden visit to the 58 Infantry Division and 583 Infantry Brigade on 29 Oct 2024.

Commander 1 Corps was warmly welcomed by Major General JKR Jayakodi RWP USP, the General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division. A ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented at the entrance to mark the occasion, following which the GOC provided a comprehensive briefing on the Division’s operational and administrative responsibilities.

In honor of his first official visit, Commander 1 Corps planted a sapling on the camp premises. The visit concluded with an All Ranks Tea at the Corporals’ Club.

The same day he visited the 583 Infantry Brigade at Kurunegala. Upon arrival, Commander 1 Corps was warmly welcome by the Commander of the 583 Infantry Brigade. A detailed briefing conducted by the Commander of the 583 Infantry Brigade covering the deployment, operational roles and routine duties in their area of responsibility.

During the troops address in both venues, Commander 1 Corps discussed critical issues, including the impact of personnel engaging in unauthorized activities and the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. He further emphasized the necessity of military discipline, proactive planning, and operational readiness to uphold the 1 Corps mission.

During the visits, Commander 1 Corps engaged with troops, providing valuable guidance and encouragement. Finally, Major General MTI Mahalekam WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commander 1 Corps terminated the official visits by wishing to under command troops for all the success in future endeavours.
