FIFTH COMMANDER OF 1 CORPS RELINQUISHED THE OFFICE

Major General PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc, the 5th Commander of 1 Corps relinquished his duties upon his retirement on 05 October 2024 during a formal military ceremony held at the Headquarters 1 Corps, Kilinochchi.

At the inception of the ceremony, the outgoing Commander received a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the Headquarters, before awarding with a Guard of Honour presented by troops of 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

Then, he delivered the official handing-over documents at the office premises. Thereafter, the Outgoing Commander posed for group photographs with the General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers and Other Rankers of 1 Corps.

Subsequently, he addressed the troops of 1 Corps and paid the gratitude to all for the assistance what they have extended during his tenure and urged them to continue their commitment in same spirit for the benefit and the reputation of the organization.

Before relinquishing the office, formally, he attended for all Ranks tea at the Corporals’ Club, Headquarters 1 Corps. Eventually, a farewell dinner was bid to Outgoing Commander by all officers in 1 corps along with a token of appreciation.
