COMMANDER 1 CORPS VISITS TO AIRMOBILE BRIGADE

Major General P S Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc - Commander 1 Corps conducted an official visit to the Airmobile Brigade on 23 January 2026. The visit commenced with a formal military ceremony held at the Airmobile Brigade Headquarters in Velankulam, where a Guard Turnout was presented at the main entrance in honour of the visiting Commander 1 Corps. Brigadier WAJ Hemachandra RSP Hdmc psc Commander Airmobile Brigade, warmly welcomed the Commander 1 Corps upon his arrival.

The Commander Airmobile Brigade delivered a comprehensive briefing to the Commander 1 Corps, accompanied by the General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division, Major General GAT Godewatte RWP RSP. The briefing was attended by the Brigadier Administration and Quartering, the Colonel Coordinating, The General Staff Officer I (Ops) - 1 Corps, The Colonel General Staff - 53 inf Div (RSF), all Commanding Officers of the Airmobile Brigade and the Commandant of AMTS. The troop address and the planting of a sapling further highlighted the visit. During the visit, the Commander 1 Corps also toured key facilities, including the Cook House, Corporals’ Club, and the Officers’ Mess. As a gesture of goodwill, a memento was presented to commemorate the visit of the Commander 1 Corps. The occasion concluded with the signing of the visitors’ book, after which the Commander 1 Corps formally concluded the visit by extending his best wishes to the Airmobile Brigade and its troops for continued success in all future endeavours.
