The 73rd Anniversary of the Corps of Signals accentuated in attaining the Sacred Blessings of the Noble Triple Gems for the wellness and divine contentment of All Ranks. The religious activities started in the evening on 15 October 2016 next to a colorful cultural procession with the participation of troops from all Signals units to accompany Buddhist Priests to start the overnight Pirith Chanting observance. Colonel Commandant Maj Gen KRP Rowel RWP USP ndu psc together with many serving officers, Chairperson of the Signals Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs Ramya Kumari Rowel together with members of the Signals Seva Vanitha Branch and the family members of the deceased servicemen of the Corps of Signals attended the ceremony and observed their best dedicated calmness in merit of all fallen and peace of mind in disabled.

The 73rd Anniversary celebrations of the Corps of Signals commenced with the inauguration of the Buddhist Contemplation Shrine held in the early morning on 15 October 2016, Full Moon Poya Day at the Signals Regimental Centre premises. Identifying the requirement of inculcating and maintaining a higher state of spiritual and moral values that are required for peaceful thoughts and minds to preserve both physical and mental discipline in all members, Corps of Signals completely uplifted its old Buddhist Shrine \"Budhu Madura\" into a new Buddhist Contemplation Shrine. Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals Maj Gen KRP Rowel RWP USP ndu psc unveiled the inauguration plaque and the new \"Samadhi Buddha Statue\" at the auspicious time of 0556 hrs in a milky pious milieu while Buddhist priests were offering the Blessings of the Noble Triple Gems. This astonishing occasion was graced by many Senior Officers, Officers, Senior Non Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks of Corps.

The 73rd Anniversary celebrations of the Corps of Signals commenced with the Heroes Remembrance Ceremony held in the evening on 15 October 2016 at the Corps of Signals Monument located at Signals Regimental Centre Premises in Panagoda. The event was graced by the Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Signal Corps Maj Gen KRP Rowel RWP USP ndu psc with the participation of serving and retired senior officers, members of the Signals Seva Vanitha Branch as well as parents, widows & children of the fallen heroes who made supreme sacrifice in hard earning the respectable peace in the beloved motherland.

Corps of Signals organized a Get Together of retired Signal Officers in par with the 73rd Anniversary celebrations. This courtesy feast was held at the Signals Regimental Officers\' Mess in Panagoda with the graciousness of good gathering of retired Signal Officers and their spouses including the 1st Colonel Commandant Maj Gen CJ Abeyratne (Retd) and many serving Signal Officers and their spouses.

Celebrating the day of 73rd Anniversary of the Corps of Signals, troops awarded the Anniversary Guard Turnout and the Parade to the Colonel Commandant followed by the traditional All Ranks Lunch on 19 October 2016. Ceremony commenced with the Guard Turnout and the fully ceremonial parade. Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals, Major General K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc reviewed the parade while Regimental Centre Commandant accompanied throughout. After the parade, all officers attended the officers address by the Colonel Commandant held at the main conference hall.

Officers\' Mess Night to celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the Corps of Signals was held at 1930 hrs onward at the Signal Regimental officers\' Mess in Panagoda on 19 October 2016. Colonel Commandant Major General K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and over 200 serving officers including Commander 62 Division Major General B H M A Wijesinghe USP ndu psc and the respected ladies participated the event.

In view of 73rd Anniversary celebrations, the Mess Night of the Warrant Officers\' & Sergeants\' Mess was held in the evening on 21st October 2016 with the participation of all the Senior NCOs in the Corps of Signals. The Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals, Major General K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc accompanied by senior officers serving within the Corps of Signals premises graced the event. Regimental Sergeant Major, WO1 I K M Wijesinghe received the Chief Guest and other guests, and facilitated for both officers and Senior NCOs to converse among each others in a fine blended milieu of traditions and harmony. All ranks get-together, was an entertainment and interaction event organized by the Corps of Signals for all signalers in order to appreciate their hard work throughout the year. The Colonel Commandant, Major General KRP Rowel RWP USP ndu psc graced the occasion as the chief guest. This colorful evening began with an exciting fireworks display and followed by a musical extravaganza with the participation of veteran artists and upcoming famous singers in the country backed by beautiful dances of an upcountry Dancing troupe. The final event of the 73rd Anniversary Celebrations of the Corps came to an end with a shelling of final nonstop barrage from the Signals Beat Group.
