The Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General I H M R K Herath USP ndc psc visited 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps on 12th June 2024. This was his first official visit to the 3 SLSC after taking over duties as the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps.
Major K B G U N Kariyawasam USP psc, the Commanding Officer warmly welcomed Major General I H M R K Herath USP ndc psc upon his arrival and subsequently a ceremonial guard turnout was awarded at the main entrance in accordance with military formalities. Then, the Colonel Commandant paid his tribute to fallen war heroes by placing a flower wreath at the monument before planting a ‘Mango’ sapling to mark the visit and posing a group photograph with all ranks.
The Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps addressed the troops reminiscing his cherished memories in the prestigious unit as the very first officer to be posted to it and highlighted the importance of upholding discipline by the soldiers at all times and its impact on their military careers and personal lives. Further, he elaborated on present financial crisis, situational awareness and remedial actions to manage the situation and importance of unity and bond between the Officers and subordinates in unit lines. Later, the Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps attended an all ranks tea. Subsequently, the Commanding Officer delivered a comprehensive briefing on present Information and Communication status within the AoR alongwith realted administrative, and logistic matters.
Then, the Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps visited the camp premises. Before concluding the days proceedings, he shared his views with Officers during lunch at Officers’ Mess and left his courageous compliments in the Visitors’ Book.
