The outgoing Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General KAWS Rathnayake, ndu, were honored in a series of traditional military customs and courtesies by the 1st Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 4th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 9th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, and 2nd (Volunteer) Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps.
During his formal visit to the 4th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, Major General KAWS Rathnayake, ndu, was greeted with the Guard Turnout upon his arrival at the premises. He then reviewed the colorful Guard of Honor, planted a sapling in the premises, and participated in a group photograph with all ranks attending the day’s ceremony.
Subsequently, he joined all ranks to enjoy tea at the ORs' Mess. Later, he addressed the troops, sharing valuable experiences from his colorful thirty-five years of service. He motivated the troops for hard work and dedication required for a brighter future of the Corps of Signals. Troops from the 1st Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 4th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 9th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, and 2nd (Volunteer) Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps joined the address via the Zoom application.
Finally, Major General Sugath Rathnayake penned compliments and good wishes in the visitor’s book. The formalities of the day were culminated by lunch at the Officers' Mess before his departure.
The Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Colonel Coordinating of the Office of Chief Signal Officer, Commanding Officers of the 1st Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 3rd Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 4th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 9th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, and 2nd (Volunteer) Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, along with many other Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors, and cross-sections from all participating units, witnessed the day's proceedings.
