Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) bid a farewell to its outgoing Major General DMPP Dassanayake on Tuesday (12) on his retirement after having counted an illustrious service of more than 34 years in the Sri Lanka Army.
The ceremony formally held in keeping with military traditions at the SLSC Regimental Headquarters premises in Panagoda.
The program of events commenced with the ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by paying obeisance to the fallen war heroes of SLSC at the Regimental War Heroes’ Monument.
Next the series of events continued with a Guard of Honour with the participation of SLSC troops. Later the retiring snr officer addressed Signal troops at the Auditorium before attending an All Ranks Tea at the Corporals' Club of the Regimental Centre. Finally all Officers and Other Ranks in a moving gesture honoured him in a street line farewell as he moved out of the Regimental Centre premises presenting his final salute.
The day’s formalities culminated with a traditional ‘Formal Dinner Night’ hosted by all Officers at the Regimental Officers’ Mess.
