Colonel HDJP Weerathunga assumed duties as the 11th Director, Information Technology at the Army Headquarters on 06 September 2023 during a brief ceremony amidst religious blessings.
The incoming Director was warmly welcomed by the Colonel IT (Overlooking) Lieutenant Colonel WRMR Wickramasinghe USP SLSC upon his arrival at the Army Headquarters premises.
Colonel HDJP Weerathunga warmed his new office as the new Director after lighting the traditional oil lamp. Later he placed his signature symbolically on an official document to signify the acceptance of the new responsibilities at the auspicious minute.
The new Director, Colonel HDJP Weerathunga served as the Commander Signal Brigade, prior to his new appointment.
Soon after the assumption of duties, he addressed the officers and other ranks of the directorate staff and set out his vision for the future endeavours of the directorate. Subsequently , he had a brief audiance with the Chief Signal Officer (Overlooking) of Sri Lanka Army and the Director Media Brigadier IHMRK Herath USP ndc psc at his office.
Senior Officers, the Commanding Officers of 6 SLSC (IT), 11 SLSC (IT), 12 SLSC (CS), Officers and Other Ranks of the Directorate of Information Technology were present at the occasion.
