Colonel MAK Jayawardena psc assumed his office as the 30th Commandant of School of Signals on 19 June 2023.
The incoming Commandant was welcomed with a guard turnout upon his arrival at the main entrance. Thereafter he was accorded a salute in a ceremonial parade as per the military traditions at the School of Signals parade ground.
Subsequently, the newly appointed Commandant symbolically signed an official document to signify the acceptance of the new appointment under the patronage of religious activities. Making the event much more memorable, the incoming Commandant planted a sapling followed by posing a group photograph with the permanent staff.
Later, the Commandant addressed the troops, setting his vision for the future prospects of the School of Signals. The day’s proceedings concluded after the Commandant joining with All Ranks for a tea.
