Further extending welfare efforts towards Signal Officers and soldiers, The Mercury Resort located in Menerigama, under 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps received three fully furnished Cabanas. Amidst religious observances, the three Cabanas with all the modern facilities were declared open on 16 June 2023 by the Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General KAWS Ratnayake along with retired senior of the Corps of Signals.
Under the guidance of the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, the renovation of club house and cabana building process were carried out with the whole labour effort of Signal troops. The upgrading of the premises also included introducing a newly established Air Rifle Range and a Virtual Firing Range designed for much attraction and the entertainment of guests.
The event was followed up by a traditional sapling planting in the premises, Colonel Commandant’s speech, official launch of Mercury Resort web site and a symbolical distribution of Membership Cards of Mercury Resort among members present in the evening, prior to the termination of the day’s proceedings.
The president of Signal Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs, Nalini Ratnayake, Senior Officers, Officers of the Corps of signals and their spouses also added much glamour to the event.
