Corps of Signals is responsible for providing information and communication technology required for command, control and administration of the Sri Lanka Army. To fulfill the prime role, the corps needs to maintain a competent and professional work force. As a results of the rapid Technological development in telecommunication field in recent past, the scope of the Tele communication technician has been evaluated and modified to suit with present environment. Accordingly, the Certificate in Telecommunication Technology Course (CTTC- Lvl 3) was commenced at School of Signals for the first time under the registration of Territory and Vocational Training Commission of Sri Lanka on 18th April 2022.
The first batch of CTTC comprise with 11 signalers, who had successfully completed theoretical module at the School of Signals began vocational training module for five working days on 16thJune 2022 at Sri Lanka Telecom Training Centre, Peradeniya.
The hands-on training will cover ADSL router configuration, UTP crimping, PEO TV apps, overhead cable maintenance, and setting up a new connection from DP to the customer's premises equipment. Introduction to copper cable faulty, Faulty identification equipment theory, Fault identification and localisation, Copper cable laying (overhead/underground), Fiber optic cables and splicing, and FTTH (Fiber to The Home) new connection theory and practical.
