Brigadier Prabath Dematampitiya of the Corps of Signals assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Division during a brief ceremony held on Wednesday, 18 April 2018.
On his arrival at the Headquarters of the 56Division, Brigadier Prabath Dematampitiya reviewed a Guard Turnout and was awarded a Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the 56 Division. Then in the midst of religious blessings, he symbolically signed a formal document to signify the acceptance of duties in his new office that was followed by planting of a tree sapling, troops address and a staff-tea that culminated the day’s ceremony. Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Senior Officers of the 56 Division were present at the occasion.
Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya was the Director of the Directorate of Information Technology of AHQ before he assumed duties in the new office.
