Brigadier Prasad Akuranathilake of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) took over the duties as the new Director of the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) on 16th April 2018 in the midst of religious observances and military formalities. He symbolically signed the first official document at his new office in the Corps of Signals premises Panagoda, signifying the acceptance of new appointment in the presence of many Senior Signal Officers. The series of activities pertaining to the ceremony were included with a staff-tea followed by the briefing of the Staff and Project Officers of the Directorate of IT.
Brig Prasad Akuranthilake held his last appointment as the Commander 542 Brigade before he was appointed to this prestigious appointment.
Brigadier Prasad Akuranathilake is an Alumnae of D S Senanayake Collage, Colombo 07, who joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet of Intake 26 on 27th October 1986 and completed his basic military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Diyatalawa before he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 23rd July1987. Since then, he has served in various Command, Staff and Instructional appointments in the Corps of Signals as well as in the Sri Lanka Army.
