Brigadier N M Hettiarachchi USP psc Hdmc of the Corps of Signals was promoted to the rank of Major General on 14th March 2018 with effect from 28th January 2018.
Major General N M Hettiarachchi joined the Sri Lanka Army on 06th June 1985 as an Officer Cadet with Intake 21 and received his basic military training from the Pakistan Military Academy. After successful completion of his Officer Cadet training, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 25th January 1986 and was posted into the prestigious Sri Lanka Signal Corps. During his tour of duty up to date, he served the Corps of Signals and to the Army in numerous Command, Staff and Instructional appointments in different areas of the country displaying a high degree of professionalism and utmost commitment in discharging duties and responsibilities entrusted to him. He is the present Commander of the Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) and he is an Alumnae of the Ananda College, Colombo.
After receiving the promotion, Major General N M Hettiarachchi USP psc Hdmc visited the Signal Regimental Centre, Panagoda on 15th March 2018 and paid a courtesy call on the Colonel Commandant at the Colonel Commandant’s Office.
