\"BODHI ROPANAYA\" AT REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTERS, SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS
The significance of the Nikini Poya day is after the Enlightened Lord Bhuddha’s first sermon, DHAMMA CHAKKA PAVATTANA SUTRA the Wheel of Dhamma, to the five followers , Kondanna, Bhaddiya, Vappa, Mahanama, Assaji, in the Deer Park , Isipathana, in Baranes, he advised his disciples to spread the Buddhist Doctrine and the Message of Noble Dhamma to Mankind. This year Nikini Full Moon Poya Day falls on 17 August 2016, in this virtuous day Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc has planted a Bo Tree at auspicious time with the blessings of Buddhist monks at the Regimental Headquarter, a temple premises which is under construction. The planted sacred Bo Tree was a branch of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, Anuradhapura and also another root balled Bo Tree planted surrounding the sacred tree to protect it from natural effects. A colourful procession organized by the Regimental Headquarters, Sri Lanka Signal Corps in order to shed glamour to the event as it was the very first event before the sunrise.
