The main Holiday Bungalow of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps "Mercury House" was declared open by Major General E P De Z Abeysekera USP, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals at the auspicious time of 0701 hours on 21st June 2013. Major General (Retd) C J Abeyratne VSV USP, Brigadier (Retd) KJN Senaweera RSP USP Ldmc and many other senior officers of the Corps of Signals graced this occasion.
The "Mercury House" is located at a steep slope of tranquil hilly area in Diyatalawa with breathtaking views towards the prestigious Sri Lanka Military Academy and serene Haputale ranges. This is the ultimate result of an untiring effort of the present Colonel Commandant and all Ranks of the Corps of Signals that successfully achieved despite of many challenges faced to begin the constructions and to complete as it rise strong to serve the Corps today. The foundation stone for this project was laid by the Present Colonel Commandant, then Brigadier E P De Z Abeysekera USP on 31st October 2011 and was able to complete constructions within a period of 20 months.
The Mercury House is a four-storey bungalow. The specialty in this architecture is all the floors has its own separate entrance and connectivity to the main ground, thereby allowing separate four groups to occupy at a time. The 1st Floor consists of a dometry that facilitate 12 occupants. The 2nd Floor comprise of three luxury bedrooms for overnight staying personnel and the 3rd Floor facilitate with a fully fledged sitting room, a dining hall, a TV lounge, a bar and a changing area with bathrooms especially to facilitate day outing personnel. The 4th Floor is a super luxury suite with a roof top garden.
