VISIT OF THE CHIEF SIGNAL OFFICER TO 7 SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS

The Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General WPAK Thilakarathna psc paid his first official visit to 7th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps on 11 September 2020. Upon his arrival, the Chief Signals Officer was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel M R Hameem USP at the main entrance and awarded the senior officer with a ceremonial guard turnout.

The programme of the day commenced with Commanding Officer’s briefing and there he explained the communication and administrative matters pertaining to his AOR.After his briefing, the Chief signal Officer planted a sampling in front of RHQ Office Building Complex to mark his visit.

Next, The Chief Signal Officer addressed all Ranks,during his speech he highlighted the importance of signalers being well competence on broad aspects of signal application and also the necessity of transforming them in to multi skilled personnel to suit the present day context. He also educated soldiers to administer their career through proper financial and resource management process to make their life happy thought their tenure in the Army.

At the end of his address, the Commanding Officer presented a memento to the Chief Signal Officer on behalf of all Officers and Other Ranks of the unit to mark his official visit and invited the senior officer for the tea. The Chief Signal Officer participated for a Group Photograph in front of the Regimental HQ with the participation of all Ranks.

Further, The Chief Signal Officer visited the camp premises and inspected the recent developments and ongoing projects initiated by the unit. Thereafter, the Chief Signal Officer concluded his visit after having a staff lunch at the officer’s mess and did not forget to pen his thoughts and wishes in the unit visitors’ book.
