TROOPS BID FAREWELL FOR RETIRING CHIEF SIGNAL OFFICER AT SLSC REGIMENTAL CENTRE

Major General WPAK Thilakarathna psc, the retiring Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army received a customary farewell on 23 January 2021 at SLSC Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda before he relinquishes his duties after a distinguished service of more than 34 years.

Outgoing Chief Signal Officer in conformity with military traditions was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Colonel GGA Gunasekara USP and accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main entrance of RHQ SLSC.

Then he laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes. Subsequently, he was honoured in a Guard of Honour which was followed by a tea party held in Officers’ Mess.

Subsequently, he addressed troops on a live webcast and placed his good thoughts in the visitors’ book. Finally all Officers and Other Ranks in a moving gesture honoured him in a street line farewell as his vehicle began to move out of the Regimental Centre premises. The formalities were culminated with a formal dinner night.
