Troops of Sri Lanka Signal Corps bid farewell to Brigadier GGA Gunasekera USP on 25 May 2023 on his retirement after having counted more than 33 years of illustrious service in Sri Lanka Army.
The ceremony was formally held in keeping with military traditions at SLSC Regimental Headquarters premises in Panagoda.
Day’s proceedings commenced with the ceremonial Guard Turnout which was followed with paying obeisance to the fallen war heroes of Sri Lanka Signal Corps at the Regimental Monument. Later Brig GGA Gunasekera USP received the salute of a Ceremonial Parade presented by troops serving at RHQ SLSC.
Subsequently he had a courtesy call on with the Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General KAWS Ratnayake ndc.
Then, Brigadier GGA Gunasekera penned compliments and good wishes in the visitors' book and he departed the Regimental Headquarters with warm wishes of Senior Officers, Officers and all Other Rankers of the Regiment.
Finally, the formalities of the day were culminated by a farewell dinner at the Officers' Mess.
