Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) proudly celebrated the promotion of Major General AP Wickramasekara USP psc on January 5, 2024, at the Regimental Headquarters. The event was marked by a series of formal military ceremonies and heartfelt gestures.
Brigadier SJKD Jayawardena USP psc, the Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest with a Guard Turnout at the entrance, in accordance with military formalities. Thereafter, Major General Ajith Wickramasekara paid homage to fallen SLSC War Heroes by laying a floral wreath at the War Heroes' monument in a solemn ceremony.
Later, the Parade Commander invited the day's protagonist to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour and receive the salute from the special dais. During a tea party, Major General AP Wickramasekara USP psc took a moment to share his thoughts with officers at the Officers’ Mess, engaging in friendly conversations. Group photographs were taken to capture the memorable occasion. Leaving a lasting memory, he planted a sapling at the Regimental Centre.
Major General Ajith Wickramasekara paid a courtesy call by the Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General IHMRK Herath USP ndc psc at the Colonel Commandant’s Office.
Concluding the day's festivities, Major General AP Wickramasekara USP psc joined all officers for lunch at the Officers’ Mess, where he presented a memento as a gesture of reciprocation to the Corps of Signal. The day's events not only celebrated the achievements of the newly promoted Major General but also fostered camaraderie within the Sri Lanka Signal Corps.
