SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS RECEIVES NEW COMMUNICATION VEHICLES SPECIALIZED ON ELECTRONIC WARFARE

Taking one more step forward to the ongoing restructuring process of Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Signal Corps strengthened their technical inventory by 11 vehicles equipped with sophisticated Electronic Warfare capabilities, during a brief ceremony held on 22 August 2023 at Ministry of Defence Premises, Akuregoda.

The much needed, technically equipped vehicles were symbolically gifted to the Ministry of Defence under the Chinese Military Grant scheme during the simple event, which was graced by Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Acting Minister of Defence and General Kamal Gunaratne (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence at the Army HQ.

Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, Major General WASS Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff of the Army and Senior Colonel Zhou Bo, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka were among the distinguished invitees to the occasion.

The entire fleet of vehicles, comprising of ten mobile field Electronic Warfare Units and a Mobile Command and Control Unit are supposed to be emp for EW duties, which will be undertaken by recently raised 9 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (Electronic Warfare) under 2 Signal Brigade.

The official transfer of the vehicles to the Corps of Signals was completed with the signing of handing/taking documents between Senior Colonel Zhou Bo, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka and Major General KAWS Ratnayake ndu, Chief Signal Officer of the Army. Subsequently, the distinguished gathering of Senior Officers and invitees witnessed a quick inspection of this latest addition to the Communication Arsenal of Sri Lanka Army.
