Troops of 11 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) offered their technical expertise and knowledge to the Kalutara Prison for installation of its new CCTV (Closed-circuit television) security cameras around the premises in response to a request made by General LHSC SILVA WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
The project was recently completed under the guidance of Major General PAJ Peiris ndu Colonel Commandant, SLSC and Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army, together with the Brigadier KC Prathapasinghe, Director Information Technology.
The installation is expected to strengthen security and monitor all illegal activities, happening inside and also in the adjacent area. Troops of 11 SLSC under the close supervision of Lieutenant Colonel S D Kothalawala RSP, Commanding Officer of the unit completed the task accurately within a shorter period and handed over to the prison authorities.
Meanwhile, the same CCTV installation projects would be extended to Negombo and Mahara Prisons after preliminary observations now in progress are concluded.
