SIGNALS CONDUCTED THEIR RELIGIOUS SEGMENT IN LINE WITH THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

Corps of Signals conducted their religious segment in line with series of events organized to celebrate the glorious 75th Anniversary and attained the Sacred Blessings of the Noble Triple Gems for the wellness and divine contentment of All Ranks of the Corps. Commencing these religious activities, an all-night Pirith Chanting ceremony was held in the evening on 13th October 2018 followed by a Sanghika Daana (Almsgiving for Priests) on the following day.

The event started in the evening on 13th October 2018 with a colorful cultural procession presented by Signallers that conducted Buddhist Priests for the all-night Pirith Chanting observance.

Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals Maj Gen BHMA Wijesinghe USP ndu psc and Chief Signal Officer Maj Gen NM Hettiarachchi USP psc Hdmc together with many serving officers, Chairperson Mrs Arosha Wijesinghe together with members of the Signals Seva Vanitha Branch and the family members of the deceased brave Signallers added much divine contribution by attending the ceremony. They all together observed their best dedicated composure in merit of all fallen heroes and for the peace of mind in disabled troops as well as for those who are still serving. Following day morning, the morning Almsgiving (Heel Dana) was offered for 13 Buddhist Priests who chanted Pirith all-night.

Prior to the main event of Almsgiving held in the noon on 14th October 2018, all Signal units conducted counselling and interviewing of the families of the deceased Signallers that created a well concerned setting to address the needs of them. Then the foremost Almsgiving Ceremony was held for 28 Buddhist Priests in the noon with the participation of the Colonel Commandant, Chief Signal Officer, Senior Officers and Officers of the Corps of Signals and their ladies, All Ranks representing all Signal Regiments and relations of the deceased personnel.

At the end of the religious practices, Signals Seva Vanitha Branch organized and distributed special gifts and the Corps of Signals 75th Anniversary souvenirs for the families of deceased who participated the event. Considering this key milestone, the 75th Anniversary, Corps of Signals presented a special certificate in Respect of Martyr to the families in the name of each brave Signallers who sacrificed their lives during the past.
