SIGNALLERS HONOURED THEIR COLONEL COMMANDANT CONDUCTING THE RIGHT CEREMONIAL DAY OF THE 74TH ANNIVERSARY

The Corps of Signals awarded the Anniversary Guard Turnout and the Ceremonial Parade to the Colonel Commandant followed by the traditional All Ranks Lunch that were held on 19 October 2017 in line with the 74th Anniversary Celebrations. The formal procedures commenced with the Guard Turnout and the effusive ceremonial parade.

Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals, Major General B H M A Wijesinghe USP ndu psc reviewed the parade while Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier P A J Peiris marched along with. The parade was commanded by the Commanding Officer 7th Regiment SLSC, Lt Col H D J P Weerathunga.

Subsequently, All Ranks Lunch was held at the main auditorium with the participation of Colonel Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks representing all the Signals establishments. At the end of the lunch, most outstanding sportsmen and sportswomen of the past year were felicitated including the winners of the Inter Unit Tournaments held for the year 2017. Then it was observed outstandingly that 3 SLSC hard secured the greatest position as "Best Unit - 2017" of the Corps of Signals and the Commanding Officer Lt Col Y S P Sumanasinghe proudly received the Shield of the Best Unit from the Colonel Commandant.

Finally addressing the audience, Colonel Commandant appreciated the past year performance of All Ranks that kept the flag of the Corps of Signals high and stressed upon the facts such as discipline, professional achievements and commitment that fundamentally need to maintain and gain further higher statuses while declaring the approaching year as the "Year of the Corps" since the Corps of Signals will be celebrating the 75th Anniversary in 2018.
