SIGNAL OFFICERS' TRAINING DAY OF THE 1ST QUARTER 2018

Quarterly Officers Training Day of the Corps of Signals for the 1st Quarter of the year 2018 was held at the Signal Regimental Centre on 21 March 2018. A Considerable number of senior officers and officers enthusiastically participated the whole day programme. The training programme started with an Aerobic session at 0600 hrs that followed the group breakfast at the Officers’ Mess. Then a period of time was allocated in the programme for all the young officers who were present to practice essential Sward Drills.

Progressing with the knowledge sharing session, two significant lectures were delivered for the officers at the Main Auditorium from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs. The first lecture presentation on ‘Opportunities open to Signal Officers in the modern technological world” was dynamically delivered by Dr Chulantha Kulasekera of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). The second lecture presentation on ‘Multidimensional media technology’ was conducted by CO 10 SLSC, Lt Col K V P Dhammika USP that was followed the Training Day Lunch at the Signals Officers Mess.

After the officers’ collective recreations held in the evening, as the last event of the day, the Diners’ Club was held at the Signal Regimental Officers’ Mess from 1930 hrs onward. Amidst a large gathering of Signal officers, Lieutenant Colonel Athula Samarasinghe (Retd) psc, addressed the audience by delivering an educative speech on ‘Motivation towards the battle of tomorrow’ that grabbed the attention of the crowd in their obtainable knowledge on the field of present day technology concerns. At the end of the session, Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals Major General B H M A Wijesinghe USP ndu psc presented the appreciating plaque to the guest speaker.

The programme was assigned to 11 SLSC for its fullest organizing and conducting as directed by the Signal Regimental Centre.
