Retiring Major General's Professional Commitment Commended

Major General Adeepa Thilakaratne, Chief Signal Officer (CSO) of the Army and a distinguished senior officer of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) on the eve of his retirement from the Army after an exemplary service of more than thirty years received appreciative commendation and plaudits from none other than General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army when the former was invited to the Commander's office on Wednesday (20).

Speaking highly of his commitment to the duties, the Army Chief was specific in commenting on the retiring Senior Officer's tenure of office: "You are one of the few who displayed professionalism beyond expectations and someone who excelled in the sphere of IT fulfilling the organizational needs in a convincing manner. I have observed that all assignments entrusted to you were effectively completed and made them bear fruits to the best satisfaction of your peers. Your integrity, honesty and straightforwardness were of the highest standards and your technical contribution during the peak of humanitarian operations is certainly a noteworthy remembrance, "General Shavendra Silva remarked.

Recalling his contribution and commitment to the recently-raised Drone Regiment, Undertaking of Vehicle Registration procedure at Department of Registration of Motor Vehicles as well as the most recent undertaking of production of Driving Licenses, the Army Chief praised him for his genuine dedication throughout for the best interests of the country, the Army and his Regiment alike as the Chief Signal Officer of the organization. He also spoke of his clean record during the career and wished him good luck with his future prospects.

Towards the end of the interaction, General Shavendra Silva inquired into his future prospects upon retirement after transitioning to civil life and presented a special memento to Major General Adeepa Thilakaratne as a symbol of appreciation.

Major General Adeepa Thilakaratne, appreciative of all complimentary remarks in return awarded a replica of a modern radio set to the Army Chief as a gesture of memory and thanked the Commander's excellent support given for performance of his Army duties.
