PRIDE OF PARTICIPATION IN THE 69th INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE

A grand ceremony was held on February 04th 2017 at the historical Galle Face green to mark the motherland\'s 69th Independence Day. During the ceremonial military parade comprising over 6000 troops of tri forces, Police and Civil Security Department, His Excellency the President of Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander in Chief of Armed Forces was accorded a Guard of Honour and Gun salute as customary.

The smart foot and mechanized columns of the Corps of Signals, that took part in the elegant parade, added glamour to the event and was highly appreciated by the spectators. A ceremonial foot column dressed with 4 Officers and 101 Other Ranks marched in the parade under the command of Major HMGIUB Herath psc, the Regimental Adjutant. In addition, a mechanized column commanded by Lt Col GLSW Liyanage USP psc, the Commanding Officer 2 (V) SLSC, mounted with key communication equipment, Electronic Warfare equipment and a model of a Mobile Operation Room was also included in the parade with 4 Officers and 52 Other Ranks.

In keeping with one of its main roles and tasks, the Corps of Signals, like in early years, contributed immensely for the success of the ceremony by providing Signal communication assistance for the rehearsals besides its active participation in the final parade, which ultimately drew many commendations.
