THE PRESIDENT- ARMY SEVA VANITHA UNIT DECLARED OPEN NEW ACCOMMODATION FACILITY FOR THE DIFFERENTLY - ABLE SIGNAL WAR HEROES

The opening of the newly constructed accommodation facility for Differently-Able War Heroes of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, held at the Regimental Centre Premises, SLSC on 21 November 2015. The President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), Mrs. Nayana De Silva grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Secretary - ASVU, Mrs. Shirani Ambanpola and Assistant Secretary - ASVU, Mrs. Sharanki Dias too participated for the event.\r\n\r\nIn line with the opening ceremony the \'Aarya\' Foundation has donated few house hold items for the use of these war heroes, such as washing machines, 2 x computers, a 40 inch LCD TV, a water purifier and several other aids. Thereafter, artificial limbs have been donated to S/281575 L/Cpl Samantha Kumara with the help of well wishes living in Sri Lanka and abroad. In addition two \'White Canes\' were also donated to two visually impaired soldiers, namely S/280610 L/Cpl Nalin Kumara and S/279024 L/Cpl Kumara IMWA.\r\n\r\nDuring the \'Morning Tea\' arranged at the Auditorium RHQ SLSC, all present got an opportunity to interact with each other. This was followed by a short entertainment session along with SLSC cultural troupe. Days programme come to an end with the encouraging words of Vice Chancellor, University of Visual and Performing Arts, Professor Ariyarathne Kaluarachchi. Prior to termination of the event the President SLSC Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs Kumari Rowel, presented a memento to Mrs. Nayana De Silva the Chief Guest, in order to mark her presence for the event and also Colonel Commandant presented a memento to the \'Aarya\' Foundation in recognizing their generous contribution towards the welfare of the differently able soldiers.
