Fifty-three recruits belong to the Basic Certificate in Information and Communication Technology Course No 130 received their insigniah on Monday (17) at the School of Signals during a glamorous parade. The Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signals Corps Maj Gen KAWS Ratnayake ndu graced the passing out parade as the chief guest, and he was traditionally welcomed with a guard of honor accompanied by the Commandant School of Signals, Col MAK Jayawardena psc.
The parade was coloured with pinning of signal badges for 50 Signalmen and 03 Signalwomen from different regiments of Sri Lanka Signal Corps while the best all round student prize was awarded to S/288729 Signalman Nawarathna P W G M of 11 SLSC. The Chief Guest congratulated the new signalers, whilst adding his invaluable advices for the betterment of their future professional endeavors. Subsequent to the parade, a demonstration of various Information and Communication Technology aspects was displayed to the chief guest and Senior Officers present by the students of the course.
The Basic Certificate in Information and Communication Technology Course was conducted during a time span of fifty-eight working days, which encompassed theoretical and practical knowledge in all basic aspects of Information and Communications Technology. The course enables the newly decorated Signallers to perform their duties as qualified cadres in providing Information and Communication Technology required for command, control and administration of the Army.
