PAKISTAN - SRI LANKA ARMED FORCES STAFF TALKS 2017 HELD SUCCESSFULLY

The 4th round of Staff Talks between the Armed Forces of Pakistan and Sri Lanka was successfully held at the Signal Regimental Centre on 22nd September 2017. The military delegation of six members from Pakistan Army led by Major General Hafeez Ur Rehman was received by Director of the Directorate of IT Brigadier D A P N Dematanpitiya at the main entrance of the Corp of Signals. The Head of the delegation was ceremonially welcomed by awarding a Guard Turnout and then conducted to the Regimental Headquarters where Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals and Chief Signal Officer of the Army Sri Lanka Army welcomed them to the home of the Corps of Signals. Then the Staff Talks were held at the conference hall of the Signal Regimental Centre and nearly 18 Signal Officers including Chief Signal Officer Maj Gen B H M A Wijesinghe USP ndu psc, Director General of the Research Analysis Projection and Development Branch Maj Gen K R P Rowel RWP USP ndu psc, Director IT Brigadier D A P N Dematanpitiya ndu psc, Commander Signal Brigade Brig M T Waidyaratna, IT Specialists of the Sri Lanka Army, Senior Officers from the Headquarters Chief Signal Officer and other Senior Signal Officers represented the Sri Lanka Army. During the session, both parties discussed about the possible sharing of professional understanding on the mutual interests on IT and explored the possibility to improve Cyber Security in the Sri Lanka Army with expertise facilitation from Pakistan Army. These Armed Forces Staff Talks was inaugurated in 2012 to promote professional and mutually beneficial relations between both Armed Forces through direct and open exchange of facts on matters pertaining to the future prospect of military applications.
