NEWLY APPOINTED CHIEF OF STAFF OF SRI LANKA ARMY AND COLONEL COMMANDANT OF CORPS OF SIGNALS VISITS 7 SLSC - DIYATHALAWA

7th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps hosted a reception for the recently appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General DAPN Dematanpitiya ndu psc on 20 December 2020.

Commanding Officer 7th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Lt Col MR Hameem USP warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and Colonel GGA Gunasekara USP - Centre Commandant, Colonel BD Fernando USP psc, Deputy Center Commandant at the main entrance. A ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented to the Chief Guest at the entrance and greeted him in accordance with military formalities.

The Commanding Officer conducted a comprehensive unit briefing and enlightened the Chief Guest and unit activities undertaken in recent.

Thereafter, Chief Guest addressed the troops, participated for a book distribution programme which was conducted in line with world Children’s’ day with the presence of President of the Signal Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Ramani Dematanpitiya and other members of Signal Seva Vanitha in order to encourage children to enhance their knowledge through reading. Major General WPAK Thilakarathne psc, Chief Signal Officer and Colonel GCV Fernando Commanding Officer Admin Wing Sri Lanka Military Academy also participated for this event.

During All Ranks tea, Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya spared his time to share a few thoughts with Officers and Other Ranks of the unit and then he left memories by planting an Ironwood sapling in front of the Parade Ground.

Before concluding the day’s itinerary, Chief of Staff and the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Signals left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the Visitors’ Book and sat together for lunch with all Officers at the Officers’ Mess before the culmination of the day's proceedings.
