The Muaythai, renowned martial art born Thailand had recently became the 53rd sports in the Sri Lanka Army. It was the brainchild of Lt Col P P C Perera psc (CO 4 SLSC) under the guidance of Colonel Commandant of SLSC. Ever Since it found roots in Sri Lankan Army sports fraternity, trainees are pooled at 4 SLSC. They do practices on daily basis under the watchful eyes Lt Col Perera who had qualified in two master grades form Thailand Cultural Commission and International Kru (Master) Association.
Thanks to unwavering assistance from Corps of Signals, constant supervision of Maj Gen M Mudannayaka RSP USP and Officials of Sri Lanka Army Muaythai Committee athletes reached another milestone by winning National Muaythai Championship 2019 in grandeurs manner. They secured 15 Gold Medals out of 22 (Simply 2/3) while showing their prowess by winning all the medals in 8 weight classes. Altogether Army bagged 15 Gold, 12 Silver and 13 Bronze which is landslide collection of 40 medals out of 55.
Adding a jewel to crown, Army secured titles of Best Boxer male and Best Looser female as well. Boxers with international exposures and defending champions had lost their winning streak before brave Army athletes who had only two years of training. Army Muaythai team had become a predominant force in the country’s martial art community.
Female under 67 KG category, 11 SLSC S/286239 Sgm Kaldera D WS Blue corner with SLN athletes Red corner in Final match won with knockout by delivering rare reverse punch in the ring. She displayed Muaythai high skills and emerged as best technical display by Female in ring .
