LANCE CORPORAL WIMALASIRI DAGJP OF THE CORPS OF SIGNALS BECAME BEST ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The 55th Sri Lanka Army Athletic Championship 2018 was held from 29 - 31 October 2018 at Sugathadasa Stadium. Army athletes, representing all 24 Regimental Headquarters of the Army showcased their athletic prowess in this annual event, comprised of track and field events during this 3-day long Athletics Championship at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo.

As the event progressed, Lance Corporal Wimalasiri DAGJP of the Corps of Signals came out of the ashes and displayed his outstanding performances by Long jump event and won the gold medal and his performance aggregate in the year bestowed him with the best athlete of the year.

He also achieved the 7th place in 2018 Commonwealth Games and Gold medal in Sri Lanka National Athletic Championship 2018.
