FAREWELL TO OUTGOING COLONEL COMMANDANT MAJOR GENERAL SAPP SAMARASINGHE RSP USP PSC

A Parade, All Ranks Lunch and a Mess Night was organized to bid farewell to outgoing Colonel Commandant Major General SAPP Samarasinghe RSP USP psc on 6 May 2015 at the Regimental Headquarters, Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Panagoda.\r\n\r\nMajor General SAPP Samarasinghe RSP USP psc rendered more than 35 years of loyal and unblemished service to the Corps of Signal as well as to the Army as a whole. He joined the Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 24 April 1980 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 15 December 1980 and retired on the completion of his tenure at the age 55 on 6 May 2015. This senior officer was well recognized as an officer with the special quality of \"Esprit of Corps\" along with a strong individual competency in many other fields. He held quite a number of most important appointments in the Army such as Commander Infantry Brigade 513, Commander Infantry Brigade 217, Commander Infantry Brigade 222, Chief Signal Officer, Director Media, Colonel Commandant SLAMC, Commander SLAVF, Chief of Staff Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant. Apart from that he held various other appointments in different capacities covering almost all the appointments at junior, middle grade and senior level.\r\n\r\nDuring the troops address at lunch he shared his valuable and unique experiences with all present which were noteworthy. On the same day evening, Major General SAPP Samarasinghe RSP USP psc and Mrs Sepali Samarasinghe were present at the Mess Night held at Signal Regimental Officers\' Mess, Panagoda. Many senior Signal Officers along with their spouses graced the farewell dinner to pay tribute to the outgoing Colonel Commandant.
