DEFENDING CHAMPIONS MADE IT ONCE AGAIN FOR THE 5th CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Sri Lanka Signal Corps able to clinch the Army Table Tennis title for five times in a row and emerge 2015, Inter Regiment Table Tennis Champions. This event was held at Sir John Kothalawala Defence University Indoor Stadium from 17th to 19th November 2015. The Director Sports Brigadier GJAW Galagamage graced the occasion as the chief guest at the awarding ceremony.
After a lightning battle SLSC \'B\' team able to secure its unbeaten status defeating strong SLSC \'A\' during the Men\'s Team event. However, SLSC women\'s team became runners-up in their team event losing to their strong opponent SLAWC.
The open Men\'s Single event created a major upset in the final results where promising Sri Lanka Rank No 6 from Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Lt LS Kavinda was defeated by the Sri Lanka Rank No14 also from Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Sgm Priyankara YRM after a tough battle. Evaluating the performances of the all players Sgm Priyankara YRM crowned the best player of the tournament.
Throughout the tournament it was full of small encounters. Lt LS Kavinda and Sgm Priyankara YRM of SLSC beat Lt JAYS Jayakodi and Sgm Pushpakumara MAS also from SLSC at the Open Doubles finals.
In the Veterans Over 40 Singles event, Lt Col R C Wijekoon psc became runner-up. At the Over 40 Doubles finals Lt Col SHPD Thilakarathna RSP and Lt Col RC Wijekoon psc beat Lt Col SPP Pakshaweera and Lt Col SMH Imaduwage RSP and sealed their victory.
