COUGAR RADIOS MODIFIED BY SRI LANKA SIGNAL CORPS WERE HANDED OVER TO SPECIAL FORCES

A modernized Cougar Radio system modified by 10th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps for smooth conduct of special urban operations by Special Forces was handed over to Maj WRASM Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP, the Commanding Officer of 4th Regiment Special Forces on Tuesday (02) at the Office of Chief Signal Officer by Major General KAWS Ratnayake ndu, the Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army.

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), the communication, cyber and IT arm of the Army, realizing the present day’s needs for reliable military communication equipment for the Army, modified this equipment using collected inoperative Cougar radios and newly acquired components. The Radio system is also capable of exceeding ordinary operations of cougar radios and can address the prevailing shortage of secure communication systems.

The entire project was undertaken by troops of the 10 SLSC under the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel HMBMB Herath USP with their professional specialists in the field. The project is another extension of the Sri Lanka Army’s long-term plans of self-sustainability and defence production in the sphere of communication.
