CORPS OF SIGNALS RAISED 2 SIGNAL BRIGADE AND INAUGURATES IT WITH ARMY CHIEF

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) raised a new Brigade as the 2 Signal Brigade (Force Multiplication and Projection) at SLSC Regimental Centre premises, Army Cantonment, Panagoda on Friday (29) with a formal ceremony, headed by Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest.

The 2 Signal Brigade was formed under the direction of the Army Chief, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage and with the guidance of the Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of SLSC, Major General KAWS Ratnayake ndu, with enhancing capabilities of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Cybersecurity. Its role is to plan, coordinate, conduct and supervise the effective conduct of the EW, Cyber and Artificial Intelligence (AI) operations and to support Information operations (IOs) conducted in support of combat and non-combat operations in the Army.

The day’s simple warming ceremony got to a start with the arrival of the Chief Guest who was honoured in a formal Drive Pass salute at the main entrance and Major General Sugath Ratnayake, Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of SLSC together with Commander 2 Signal Brigade, Brigadier Kasun Adikari warmly received Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, then he was directly ushered to the laying of flower wreath to the fallen war heroes of the Corps of Signals.

Subsequently, at the conference hall, Colonel Commandant of SLSC delivered the welcome speech and then the Chief Guest was briefed by the Commander 2 Signal Brigade on the functioning of the newly raised Signal Brigade. Thereafter, the day’s Chief Guest was posed for a memorable group photograph in front of Lieutenant Colonel DV Brohier Motivation Centre followed by a demonstration of newly fetched equipment to the 2 Signal Brigade.

Afterwards, the Chief Guest planted a sapling to mark the significance of the event. The day’s inaugural ceremony was culminated by inking the Visitors’ Book with congratulatory compliments, then presenting of Rugby History Book of Corps of Signals named ‘Scrum to the Glory’ with the award of a memento to the Commander of the Army by the SLSC Colonel Commandant brought the day’s arrangements to the end.
